The Trailblazers

The Trailblazers

Today we watched a video on youtube from Sky Sport News which was being presented at Pt England School, (My School) about netball. The courts have cracks in the ground, the netball hoops that need to be fixed, there are fees that need to be paid but we are still trying to make what little we have into something big. A girl in yr 6, Precious, was umpiring on the video about having to get enough money to help her mum to pay for her bills.

Activity 1

Similes about my little niece:
My niece is as small as a kitten
My niece is as funny as a clown
My niece is as fast as a mouse
My niece is as special as the world
Activity 2

This is activity 2 day 2 from the Summer Learning Journey Teaser Week. Activity 2: Equal Pay for Equal Work? about the All Blacks getting paid more than the Black Ferns. I think they should be paid the same because they are playing the same game and trying just as hard although the Black Ferns won the Rugby World Cup more times than the All Blacks they do the exact same thing play the same game everything is the same the Black Ferns. Female teams don't deserve to be paid less than the All Blacks.

Activity 3

Pro:Being the best at chess.
Con:All you really do is play chess.
Pro:You can teach others to being really good at chess.
Con:Not much time with family (possibly).
Con:Not getting practice on anything else.
Pro:Beating everyone at chess.

David Attenborough Documentary Coastal Seas

- 90 percent of marine animals live in coastal waters because sunlight reaches the sea floor.
- The documentary we watched was filmed in Everglades National Park in Florida, USA.
- The lush meadows of the park support the marine life.
- The Giant Trevally and Stingray are extremely efficient (good) hunters.
- Stingrays hunt for their prey that hide in the seagrass.
- There is a lot of food for the sea creatures, and for humans in the coastal waters.
- The Bottlenose Dolphin has a special way of hunting shoals of mullet. They create a circle around the fish and flick up the mud which makes the water murky -  the mullet then get confused and jump up in the air, making it easy for the dolphins to catch the mullet.
-Coral reefs make up less than 1% of all the marine species that live in the ocean.
-Coral reefs are missing an important member of the community - Sharks!
-Shark numbers have been dramatically reduced due to overfishing.
-Overfishing has reduced the shark population by 90%

What do I like about New Zealand?

What do I like about New Zealand you may ask, well it’s not as polluted as most countries and mostly it’s not too hot, well it does get a bit chilly sometimes here in New Zealand but we have heaters and campfires so not to hard. What else you might ask? Well why not L&P one of my two favorites, other is coke but let’s not talk about that back to L&P, it was made in paeroa in well New Zealand made with lemon and carbonated water and it’s great, the taste of New Zealand. Allright, all right i'll tell you more… ah ha Tip Top why not Tip Top you might be “why Tip Top”? Well the flavors of ice cream is why! The flavors are like they’re endless and some of them are for New Zealanders jelly tip, goody goody gum drops and hokey pokey well that’s all I can think of im sure there are much more for sure right? Okay now for pies wow talking a lot about food well mince & cheese pies here are mind blowing they are great go to australia don’t eat their pies and don’t tell an australian that pavlova is made in New Zealand you might get in an argument. Now forests peaceful quiet forests birds singing not like U.S.A cities everywhere New Zealand forests and not as much cities. That’s all I can do for now I know it was mostly food but I will try to update whenever I can, this is from Kalani in Room 6 at Point England School BYEEEEEE!!!!

What do I want to be when I grow up?

What do I want to be when I grow up?

When I grow up I want to be either a eczema specialist or a scientist or a mechanic (like my dad) an eczema specialist because I have chronic eczema and I know quite a lot about eczema and I could help quite a lot of people that have eczema.

I would be a scientist because I could create inventions that could give benefits to our bodies and could help us in any kind of apocalypse like zombies, aliens, infected apes any thing like that like you could make a solar powered jetpack and a ray gun and then you can shoot them while being untouched warning jetpack doesn't work if it’s night or if the sun is covered.

If I was a mechanic (like a mechanic that makes and fixes cars) I would create a car I would first put in auto drive and then put in 10 seats put in a V 16 engine built in ps4’s with 8 controllers with tv’s and non toxic air freshener's with a built in BBQ and board games  .

Making connectons

Making Connections

What does making text-to-self connections mean?

It’s when the characters who are in the book have the same habit/hobbie’s/relationships as the reader

What does making text-to-text connections mean?

It’s when the text in the book relates to text in another book like say books have different episodes the text in those books would relate to 1 or more characters

What does making text-to-world connections mean?

Its when the book means something to the world like different animals like bees, lions, tigers etc or like global warming.

Why is it important that we show respect?

Why is it important that
we show respect?

It’s important to show respect because if you are at school, you will make more friends and they will like you as a friend and you won't be alone. Same as when you grow up, if you be respectful (not ask them for a fight) they will want to be your mate, and if you be respectful to your parents, they will more likely do what you want (NOT BE YOUR SLAVE) and will love you more and don't want to leave you. And of course, your teacher. Be respectful to your teacher by finishing your work and not clicking your tongue and definitely not talking back to them saying “awwwww I don’t want to!”

Year 5/6 camp

I am writing about what i did at camp, who was there, what was there when was it and where was.

Camp is when you go living outside (in like the forest not town/city,) with a tent (or make shelter with sticks/branches or any wood) well for our school camp we have tents, there was teachers, parent helpers yr 5+6’s it was last week Wednesday 9 am to Friday 3 pm at Pt England School on the feld we slept with 2/3/4 people it’s random, we have camp so we can have a break of school and learn how to live/get used to living outdoors

One of my highlights was doing kayaking because i like to get on a boat every now and then, it was kind of funny when Mr Burt (the leader) said for us to get in foot, bum, foot when i got inside a double i kind of liked it, but i really liked it when i got in a single kayak because i wouldn’t need to be lead around i could go anywhere around the boundary but in a double i didn’t go near the boundary/green point, sometimes when my paddle slashes into the sea bed when it comes out water splashes on me, so when you go kayaking be prepared to get wet

Another one of my highlights was killerzone, because when we were going across the platforms to the killerzone (the place you throw water balloons at the other team,) and then go on the ski’s it was hard because sometimes someone doesn’t do it, you then go under the cave (not actual cave) then go to the catapult (of course not real,) then you have to get all the water out of one bucket into another one then we had to go back on the ski’s then get to our headquarters and raise our flag.

I enormously thank all the teachers, parent helpers, our leaders, Mr Burt, Mr Somerville, and Mr Goodwin, my team for having me with them and all the yr 5’s and 6’s everyone made this camp a success

I learnt that you don’t need a house to have shelter you could have a tent but it would be much warmer more comfortable and you h in a house every student should do this so everyone will know what to do if you get lost in like the woods, so that’s all from me BYEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

If I could take my family any where in the world I would take them to...

If i could take my family to anywhere in the world i would take them to samoa because i would really like to see what it’s like there and eat the food like sapasui (chopsui) with taro and i would like to see my samoan family.
I would also like to go to tonga to go see my tongan family who i haven’t seen yet and walk around everywhere at tonga.
And i would like to go to new york city and go to the empire state building and go to the top to see heaps of new york city

Xmas holidays

This is what I did on the Xmas holidays my niece and nephew came over to my house and we went to the g.i pools, at the g.i pools we swam around trying to get the football, at the panmure pools we played on part of the deep side of the pool and we went on the gigantic dark spooky hydro-slide.

At home we played on my ps4 we played fortnite watched YouTube and played plants vs zombies GW2 , had a shower under the hose with our togs on while doing fortnite dances , then I went to my big sister’s house and played on his ps4 and went to the manurewa Auckland pools and we played on this giant float with obstacles and someone sprays water at you you can either go around the obstacles or go over them it’s harder than it looks i almost broke my spine on it but otherwise it was really fun

Then we went back to my house and went to places like the park with my mum I had fun on the holidays.
